Irene Ang became a household name in Singapore (and some say Malaysia) as Rosie Phua in Singapore’s longest running sitcom Phua Chu Kang Pte Ltd and subsequently Phua Chu Kang Sdn Bhd, for which she was awarded Best Comedy Performance by an Actress at the Asian Television Awards.
From the Mabel in I am Lobang King to Wan Choo in Beauty World and Guan Yim Mah in the V Conference, Irene’s affinity with the masses is evident when she was voted 8Days Readers’ Poll’s Favorite Comedian and Best Makeover Award.
Irene also created her own stand-up show The V Conference in 2007 and its subsequent yearly installments The Return of the V 2008, The Extraordinary V 2009 , The VLEE Conference 2010, and earned her the reputation of “one of the most engaging stand-up comedy shows of the year” by channelnewsasia.com!
Irene also lent her genius to creating the inaugural Asian Camp Comedy Festival 06 & 08 which saw international acts convening in Singapore for the first time.
